Teaching, study materials, basic supplies and housing for the university community were prioritized in the balance made today at the 70th Anniversary Hall of the Universidad de Oriente (UO) for the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year.
Diana Sedal, rector of the important institution based in this city, explained the work carried out by workers of the center to manage the necessary resources for the beginning of the academic process.
She commented on the difficult economic situation of the country, a hindrance to complete repairs to the buildings of the Antonio Maceo campus, with a greater capacity for students.
She specified about the beginning of enrollment for the Encounter Course corresponding to the year 2024, a process in which advice on study plans, schedules and the faculty represented will be strengthened.
On the occasion, he recognized the work of the Municipal University Center of the municipality of Tercer Frente with outstanding results in postgraduate research.
Considering also the academic indicators, defense of master’s degrees, doctorates and other achievements in the teaching process in recent semesters, the UO will self-assess its projections on the eve of 2024, he said.
Founded in 1947, the alma mater santiaguera is the second higher institution of relevance in Cuba, and received the status of Excellence in 2018 for the effective development of education and research at the international level.
