Rebel Army Commander José Ramón Machado Ventura exchanged with specialists and producers at the medicinal plants farm in Santiago de Cuba province, located in the base union business unit of the Laguna Blanca Agricultural Enterprise in Contramaestre municipality.
Accompanied by the highest authorities of the Party and the government in the territory, Machado Ventura learned that the productive plans in the thirty hectares of this farm are already sown 20, and where varieties such as aloe, oregano, cane saint, as well as viands for the production of alternative medicines predominate.
From here, four tons of raw materials have been sent to the Oriente Pharmaceutical Laboratory in the city of Santiago de Cuba to obtain formulations that have generally been used to prevent or cure diseases.
This plan is part of the National Program of Natural and Traditional Medicine, which is included in the 98th Guideline of the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution for the period 2021-2026.
Machado Ventura gives instructions
Together with Eudis Manuel Yeja, member of the Party Bureau in Santiago de Cuba, and William Hernández Morales, coordinator of the provincial government’s Food Program, Machado Ventura indicated to continue working on the efficient use of the land and the installed irrigation system, as well as extending the use of science and technology, essential steps to multiply the production of medicinal plants destined to guarantee part of the basic list of medicines in Cuba.
