In Contramaestre, the upcoming celebration of July 26th, on its 70th anniversary, is a driving force for social transformations in vulnerable neighborhoods, all of them far from the municipal capital, and corresponding to five districts of this jurisdiction in eastern Cuba.
Concerning housing in Contramaestre, the inhabitants of the community of El DAP, belonging to the constituency 67, where the district of Bungo-La Venta operates, are working on actions to improve the housing conditions of 56 properties belonging to vulnerable families, while the documentation for the construction of a medical office is being developed.
Meanwhile, in the same district but in the demarcation of Pozo Blanco, the Esteban Aguilar school is being repaired and serviced, resources are being provided to 19 vulnerable families and work is being done on the conservation of 39 dwellings.
In Contramaestre, the transforming action in vulnerable neighborhoods also reaches an eminently agricultural and essentially sugarcane-growing area, such as Los Pazos Xavier: there, in districts 98 and 100, a pharmacy is being adapted, the bakery and the Braulio Coroneaux elementary school are being repaired and conditions are being created for the opening of a multigrade classroom in the “4 de Oriente” community.
In Los Pasos Xavier, 112 houses are being preserved, benefiting seven multi-child mothers and two social cases, and work is being done to repair the Family Doctor’s and Nurse’s Office, as well as the eradication of 10 dirt floors.
Contramaestre includes doctor’s office in the housing project
Governmental activities in this territory to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the attack on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks include the community of La Pedrera, in Los Negros, where a building is being constructed for the family doctor and nurse’s office, while work is being carried out to repair and maintain the Esteban Caballero elementary school.
Likewise, in district 157, Lajas Atrás, in Guaninao, the delivery of resources to 20 families with vulnerabilities is foreseen, while in Pueblo Nuevo, in district 60, the repair and maintenance of the Saturnino Lora Elementary School is planned, with 70% of its execution, the repair of the town’s medical office, the conservation of 23 houses and the vitality of the water network of the district.
Also, as part of the transforming work in Contramaestre, other tasks have been undertaken, which reflect that of the 115 unemployed young people under 35 years of age, registered in the diagnosis of the 6 communities, 69 have taken courses to get the twelfth grade or to take the Higher Education Entrance Exams.
Likewise, cultural and recreational options continue to be carried out in these communities, with the support of the Culture, Sports and Education entities, whose activities are constantly being updated.
