The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party agreed to award the Santiago de Cuba province as the venue for the 70th anniversary of the attack on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks on July 26.
As comrade Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, said in a recent visit to the territory: Santiago de Cuba not only deserves to host the event because of its history, but also because of its results.
In the analysis carried out, the Party leadership based the decision on the progress made by the province in the political, economic and social fields.
At the same time, the people of Santiago have actively participated in the political processes developed, and have demonstrated the popular support to the Revolution in the fulfillment of tasks of great importance for the nation.
“The province presents favorable results in the Territorial Self-Supply Program; it complies with the sowing plans of various crops and maintains stability in its distribution. It stands out in the contracting of products of Urban, Suburban and Family Agriculture; it over-fulfills the retail mercantile circulation plan and shows positive indicators in the rational use of energy.”
It reflects encouraging achievements in programs of broad social scope related to education, health, culture and sports, as well as in the digital transformation and in services and procedures to the population through electronic government.
The Political Bureau of the PCC also decided to grant outstanding status to the provinces of Cienfuegos and Sancti Spíritus, for their stability and progress in the main undertakings. It also recognized the results in this period of the provinces of Ciego de Avila and Matanzas.
The good performance of these territories does not mean, in any way, that they do not have any problems, but they are distinguished by the way in which they face them with the objective of overcoming them and advancing.
The Political Bureau extended special congratulations to all the people of Cuba on the occasion of the National Rebellion Day and expressed its deepest appreciation for the extraordinary examples of dedication and commitment to the Homeland in the face of the complex circumstances facing the country.
The commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the attack on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks is a milestone for the historical continuity of the Cuban Revolution. As we pay tribute to the Centennial Generation and to the 26th of July heroic deed, we reaffirm the unwavering decision to continue forging unity in the ideas of Martí and Fidel, in order to face and overcome all of the obstacles.
