Forestry workers, eternal guardians of the ecosystem

Forestry workers, eternal guardians of the ecosystem

Forestry Workers’ Day is celebrated on June 21 to pay tribute to the men and women responsible for preserving the natural heritage of the Cuban nation. This date has been commemorated since 1975 and coincides with the summer season.

Protecting and safeguarding the flora and fauna of our country is one of the missions of these guardians of the ecosystem, a task that seems simple but requires knowledge, sensitivity and self-protection.

Forestry workers face risks

Injuries during timber harvesting resulting from cuts and falling trees, hearing loss caused by noise generated by logging equipment, as well as diseases caused by the use of chemical substances, are some of the risks to which these men and women are exposed on a daily basis.

Forestry workers play a fundamental role in the preservation of forests, home to hundreds of animal species. Preserving the greenery of our landscapes will continue to be the main challenge for these guardians of nature.
