Contramaestre ready for electing provincial government

Contramaestre is all set for the elections of the governor and vice-governor at provincial level this May 28, as will happen on that day in all the municipalities of the national geography.

Julio César García García, president of the Municipal Electoral Council in this jurisdiction of the province of Santiago de Cuba, emphasized that the actions of the schedule for these elections have been carried out in full, an event that takes place in Cuba every five years.

Víctor Manuel Montecinos Rodríguez, the deputy appointed by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba for this municipality will preside over these elections together with the authorities of the municipal electoral body.

Provincial government to elected

As established by said norm, “Law 127/ 2019”, it is the power of the President of the Republic to formulate the proposals for the positions of governor and vice governor, which have already been submitted to the National Electoral Council since May 2, and will be delivered to the municipal delegates of the People’s Power no less than 72 hours prior to the date called for these elections.

In the elections to be held on May 28, the delegates to the municipal assemblies of the People’s Power will meet in their own right, constituted in electoral colleges, to elect, by means of free, equal, direct and secret voting, the Governor and the Vice Governor of their respective provinces.

It should be noted that for this election, the presence of more than half of the delegates that make up each AMPP is required. If this number is not reached, the Municipal Electoral Council sets a new date within the following seven days. In accordance with the Cuban Electoral Law, the provincial electoral authorities are responsible for the final tally of the vote, as well as for validating and declaring elected as provincial governor and vice-governor those who reach more than half of the valid votes cast.

In accordance with the nation’s Magna Carta, each province is governed by a Provincial Government of People’s Power, which functions in close relationship with the people and is made up of a Governor and a Provincial Council.
