On May 17, the event for the International Day against Homophobia and Hypertension Day took place in the Jesús Rabí Park in Contramaestre, with the participation of public health personnel, people in general and the special performance of the municipal music band.
A call was made to continue fighting against discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity, and to honor the efforts the nation is making not to feed homophobia and transphobia, since we all must combat the prejudices in society in this concern.
Contramaestre fights against hypertension too
On the other hand, some important information was given the people present about how to deal with hypertension, an illness affecting so many persons all over the nation, and which sometimes causes death, when not treated properly.
It was also remembered the coincidence with the date of the celebration of the Farmers’ Day in honor of the peasant Aniceto Pérez García, who was murdered on May 17, 1946 while defending his legitimate rights to preserve his land.
