We are living in the most complex stage of scarce rainfall; drought prevails and rainfall forecasts are not very encouraging. The Contramaestre municipality reservoir, one of the most important in the province of Santiago de Cuba, is at 40% of its filling capacity.
Only 40 ml of rain has fallen in this municipality from January to date, an insignificant figure and well below the historical average.
Making rational use of the water reserves in Contramaestre we have is imposed as a matrix of conduct at the level of companies and the residential sector.
Better attitude to face the drought
Along with this, the advance of strategic investments to reduce losses of the liquid that is pumped and the solution of leaks before which we should not remain impassive as if part of a vital resource of our existence were not escaping.
In view of the deterioration of pipelines and the depressed subway supply sources, the implementation of palliative measures, while the resources we need to complete hydraulic network plans arrive.
In this plan, there must be an awareness of saving, individual and family participation in the solution of what may be wasteful, because what should not abound in a period with little rainfall is the drought of creativity and sensitivity in a reality in which our life is at stake in Contramaestre municipality.
