Contramaestre surpassed 78 percent turnout at the polls

Contramaestre held its parliamentary elections with 78.9 percent attendance at the polls, to vote for one, two or all three candidates. An atmosphere of tranquility and discipline prevailed during the voting.

For these elections Contramaestre conceived a basic turnout of 79 thousand 299 voters, of which 65 thousand 320 exercised their right to vote, according to notifications from the Municipal Electoral Council, after the result of the scrutiny carried out in the 270 polling stations that were enabled to develop a singular act of participatory democracy.

According to preliminary information, of the total number of ballots deposited in ballot boxes, in Contramaestre 91.4 percent were valid and 80.12 percent of the voters voted for all the candidates. The 19.8 percent of the voters voted selectively, so that this territory contributed in a democratic exercise to ensure that all the seats in the Cuban Parliament were filled on this election day.

In Contramaestre, as part of the preliminary results of these elections, according to the updated list, of the 65,320 ballots deposited, 4.92 were blank, while those that were annulled revealed 1.97 percent.

It is valid to recognize that this jurisdiction in eastern Cuba obtained on this day superior results in the attendance at the polls, when comparing this indicator with the municipal elections and the Referendum on the Family Code, where 76 percent and 73.23 percent were reached, respectively.
