Earthquake of 3.9 degrees shook Santiago de Cuba province

The fifth perceptible earthquake of the year shook this eastern province today, with a magnitude of 3.9 on the Richter scale, located 37.5 kilometers southwest of this city, according to reports from the National Seismological Service (SSNC).

The quake was located at 19.784 degrees north latitude and 76.040 degrees west longitude, at a depth of 11.7 kilometers, and it was felt in the municipalities of Santiago de Cuba, San Luis, Tercer Frente, Julio A. Mella, Contramaestre, and Palma Soriano.

With no signs of human or material damage, the quake occurred at 12:49 local time and this is the second one this week, after the one registered on Wednesday, with a magnitude of 4.0 and epicenter in Pilon, Granma province.
