According to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, “defense is not only for war, but to prevent war, to avoid it, to defend peace, to defend the blood and lives of our citizens”. These words of the eternal leader of the Cuban Revolution were the opening words of the Defense Plenary Meeting in Contramaestre, with the participation of the commanders of the different structures of the sector in the municipality.
This plenary, chaired by the President of the Municipal Defense Council, José Ángel Labrada Castillo, had as main objective to prepare the commanding bodies of the municipality of Contramaestre for the successful realization of the Territorial Defense Day to be held next February 25.
Contramaestre to complete the basic food basket
Outstanding among the topics discussed was the basic food basket, which is currently facing serious problems due to the non-availability in the country of the necessary resources to supply all the areas with the standard products. At the same time, it was reported that sugar, rice and oil have already begun to arrive to the stores.
Crime and illegalities was another important point of the plenary session, a topic on which work is being done to reduce crime, especially the theft and slaughter of livestock and robbery with force.
Regarding defense, participants were oriented to continue working to achieve a successful Defense Day this February 25, and insisted on the importance of the preparation to defend the territory and the nation with greater production of laments for the people, better training for the All People’s War and for the fight against the subversion from inside and outside against the Cuban Revolution.
