As in all of Cuba, this July 17 was celebrated in the municipality of Contramaestre, in Santiago de Cuba, the Children’s Day. Thanks to the efforts of the authorities and institutions, as well as the family, together with the protagonism of the children, last Sunday became a true spectacle of peace and happiness.
It was a Sunday of unique celebration as only they know how to star. The morning surrendered to the charm of the smallest of the family who took to the streets of Contramaestre to celebrate their day.
For the occasion, the institutions of this Santiago municipality prepared recreational options in which those of the artistic sector and services stood out. The José Martí brigade of art instructors, the Clausteatro group and the system of cultural centers provided the children with a varied program that included music, theater and other events.
Children’ s role
The National Institute of Sports and Recreation (INDER by the Spanish name), through its sports teams, displayed its initiatives, showing the kids’s leading role in sports development and promoting healthy recreation through competitions and games of participation.
The commerce sector guaranteed varied offers, the gastronomic unit El Trópico was an example of this. There, the new generations were given attention that included, along with good treatment, a variety of goodies.
The Children’s Day was an opportunity to enjoy again those smiles that do not lie, the emotional expression of hundreds of children that make the most authentic spectacle of peace and tranquility enjoyed by Cubans.
