Érika, silver medal with a taste of Gold

Success of education in Contramaestre, golden knowledge

Érika María Barrios García, is a student at the Orlando Pantoja Tamayo Semi-boarding School in the municipality of Contramaestre in the province of Santiago de Cuba. Érika, like all Cuban children of this age, attends her school free of charge, plays in her areas, works in her garden, talks and laughs with her classmates and teachers.

Érika is undoubtedly a happy child but she is also the winner of a silver medal in the provincial knowledge contest, dreams and sacrifice go hand in hand to achieve success.

Ërika: …I thank my teachers, the methodologists and my family for supporting me in everything I am and I will continue studying to win medals in future competitions. I want to give my parents and my teachers the gift of seeing me become a good person.

This contestant receives the unconditional support of her family, the school and the whole community. Gisselle, her mother, is proud and longs to see her become a successful woman.

Ërika’s mother: … I am very grateful to all those who in one way or another have contributed to her education, to her preparation, to the school, to all those who have come from behind, very grateful to her teacher for the preparation and training she has given her, making her choose a professional vocation, since she was little she has always said that she likes the health profile, very grateful to all those who in one way or another have contributed to the education of my child.

Elizabert Pérez Vega is the principal of the Orlando Pantoja Tamayo Semi-boarding School, a school where every morning, loaded with books and dreams, Érika arrives at the educational center that won 12 medals in the recent provincial contests, something that for this principal turned mother of hundreds of children is a source of pride and a challenge.

Principal: … I am very proud and grateful with the results because for many years the school has won many contests but this time there were 12 winners in all the prioritized subjects and the workers’ collective feels proud and grateful with the results.

Comandante Fidel Castro Ruz, enunciated that the future of Cuba had to be a future of men and women of science, and Érika has set out to fulfill that promise, her path thanks to Cuban education will be as clean as the smile and the sparkle in her eyes.
