The launching of the BIOCUBACAFE Project for organic coffee in Cuba was well received at the Expocaribe 2022 Trade Fair, which took place from June 23 to 26 in the city of Santiago de Cuba.
Rubert Almenares Román, representative of the project in Contramaestre said that there was interest from the Caribbean countries attending the second most important trade fair in Cuba, in addition to other entrepreneurs, producers and European roasters who know about the project previously.
Nine field units are involved in this project in the implementation phase initiated since 2017, which coincide with agroforestry companies in the provinces of Granma and Santiago de Cuba.
There are also 14 primary processing units or pulpers, two dry mills and it is managed by the coffee processing company Rolando Ayud Elías de Contramaestre.
The BIOCUBACAFE project for organic coffee has three partners for its development: VACSA from Italy, AICEC also from Italy and Agroforestal SA through the processing company Rolando Ayud Elias from this municipality of Santiago de Cuba.
