Santiago de Cuba, Jun 1 (ACN) Laughter, love, learning, art and mischief are masterfully combined in the Cultivando amor (Captivating Love) project, an initiative of young Rachel García Oliva, which promotes the knowledge of Marti’s works as well as the link of children from the San Luis district of Dos Caminos, in Santiago de Cuba, with the care of the environment.
Álvaro Ricardo Calzado, a fourth-grader at the René Ramos Latour boarding school, is a member of the project and said he was very happy and satisfied to be part of it.
Here the children have many rights: to study, to play, to be in this community initiative… we take care of the environment, we dance, we sing, we learn about Marti’s works and how the National Hero invited us to plant trees and not to contaminate the rivers, explains the little boy.
The idea arose to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the community, especially the children, first with the elimination of a micro-dump, which allowed sorting solid waste and delivering to the Raw Materials Company everything that could be recycled, said García Oliva, also municipal president of the Movimiento Juvenil Martiano (Martí Youth Movement).
In that area, a rural playground was built with the participation of the children, adolescents and young people of the neighborhood and we achieved an economic, social and environmental impact, in addition to the formation of values in an integral way through reading, painting, theater and other artistic activities, always linking the study of the works of the Cuban Apostle and the care of nature, he emphasized.
Arielis de Jesús Figuera, also part of Cautivando Amor, emphasizes that they participate in various activities and learn about how in Cuba the new generations are the greatest treasure and defend their right to a full life and real participation in the development of the nation.
Cautivando Amor promotes exchanges with patients in onco-hematology wards of children’s hospitals, maternity homes, homes for the elderly, schools, children’s circles and neighborhoods in general.
In each of these spaces, its young members proudly show the knowledge acquired and the enjoyment of their rights, conquered by the Revolution and guaranteed to all equally, even before birth.
We have received multiple awards from the Youth Technical Brigades, the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, the Union of Young Communists, but the greatest reward is that our dwarf princes learn to take care of their environment, know about the environment, and know about the importance of the environment.
