Cuban President tours works of economic and social interest in Guantánamo and Santiago

From the anti-imperialist tribune to continue the work system linked to the base, President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez began a tour of the Guantanamo municipality of Niceto Pérez.

He first exchanged with the collective of the Unidad Empresarial de Base de áridos Cantera Luis Raposo, an entity that is being renewed after poor results.

A new management that motivated the movement of innovators, reorganized schedules and managed a better fuel supply, allow today a stable production for the housing program, the production of asphalt and the construction of photovoltaic solar parks.

Another of the entities visited by the Head of State was Collective #1 of the Iván Rodríguez livestock company, which has achieved the development of a milk and meat production program and the delivery of breeding stock for the promotion of these masses of cattle to six municipalities.

The President highlighted the training and adaptation to Cuban conditions of buffalo cattle for agricultural work, an initiative that can contribute greatly to the preparation of the land, cultivation and transport of inputs and products.

In the Vilorio community, Díaz-Canel and Roberto Morales Ojeda talked with the villagers and the president of the People’s Council, Juan Otilio Domínguez, who detailed the transformation actions that have benefited the 2,800 inhabitants.

An investment in a new water pumping center improved the service to two communities, a baseball field and a chess room were set up, as well as a children’s house, the latter visited by President Díaz-Canel.

The children’s house “Los Ganaderitos”, adapted by the Iván Rodríguez livestock company, with a capacity for 32 children, helps some of the working mothers of the community. The dignitary spoke with the workers and inquired about the food and conditions of the center.

When speaking to the children of Vilorio, the President said that as in 1895, today’s war is necessary, with the objective of overcoming the hard situation we are living, for that we also need unity, conviction in the victory and to emancipate ourselves with our own efforts.

After participating in the Anti-imperialist Tribune in Guantanamo and touring the Niceto Perez municipality, President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez arrived after noon in the Santiago municipality of Guama, continuing the exchanges of the Party leadership with our people.

Accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee, the President first arrived at the integral forestry farm El Cocal, of the agroforestry company Guamá, which promotes coconut, cedar, banana, fruit trees, pasture and small livestock.

The president learned about the municipality’s forestry development program until 2030, which has among its objectives to increase the forestry index, with greater biodiversity and sustainability of the forests.

On the Sevilla farm, a grassroots business unit, the combatants of the Ministry of the Interior of Guamá have managed to develop various crop programs that allow them to achieve self-sufficiency, support social centers and sell a part to the population.

The President arrived there, where he exchanged with managers and workers and learned about projects, all of them agro-ecological, to enhance the fertile alluvial soils of the scarce flat areas that extend along the coast, between the Caribbean Sea and the Sierra Maestra.

He also learned about a livestock program that promotes more than thirty cattle, mainly heifers, and that already allows the supply of milk to Guamanian children.

This, the longest municipality in #Cuba, with 157 linear kilometers of coastline and a population of 34 312 inhabitants, advances in the development of its leading programs, forestry, coffee and various crops.

About the development of educational processes in the seminternado “Combate del Uvero”, where more than 220 boys and girls study, President Díaz-Canel learned during his stay in the Uvero Popular Council.

With a population of more than 4,000 people, the place has benefited from a neighborhood transformation project that has restored all its splendor to the numerous social facilities that have been built here since the triumph of the Revolution.

Schools, cultural center, polyclinic, grandparents’ home, pharmacy, bakery, local industry areas, have returned to show their brightness next to the sculptural ensemble that recalls the Uvero combat of May 28, 1957, and other landmarks that recall actions of the Rebel Army.

Dozens of children wanted to share with the President their stay in El Uvero, who at the same time asked them about their school performance and urged them to pay close attention to the teachers, because you, he said, are our future.
