Commercial and service activities are among the most affected by the current Cuban economic crisis. The lack of access to stable sources of supply has impacted the traditional quality standards and offerings of their facilities. Their groups have been forced, amidst the improvement of their economic mechanisms, to adapt to the new conditions while attempting to recover production and quality levels.
The process of improving commerce and gastronomy has not achieved the expected results, in a sector facing the consequences of an inflationary crisis and the resulting supply chain depression.
Material and human factors have undermined the objectives of the updating strategy; however, groups like those at the “El Trópico” restaurant in the municipality of Contramaestre have not abandoned the original idea of providing good service despite the difficulties.
El Trópico is often the site of important events in Contramaestre, from a danzón club, a music festival, to the anniversary celebration of a municipal organization. And all of this without losing sight of the need to introduce new forms of management.
The El Trópico collective has not given up or abandoned the idea of reviving the sale of emblematic products like coffee in a specialized facility. Expanding, diversifying, and advancing quality—that’s what it’s all about in the long-awaited, yet still distant, improvement of commerce and gastronomy.
