The Centro Universitario Municipal, CUM, of Contramaestre held the ceremony for the beginning of the 2024- 2025 school year, which was presided over by Yudelis Arévalo Mora, deputy mayor of the municipal government in charge of social programs in the territory and Bárbara Donet Olivera, director of the center of higher studies here.
Present were: students, professors, representatives of political organizations of the center and other guests who welcomed those who continue their studies and 225 new students entering higher education, distributed in nine careers.
The occasion was propitious to remember the 77th anniversary of the foundation of the Universidad de Oriente, the 90th anniversary of the birth of Frank País García and the 102nd birthday of the Federación Estudiantil Universitaria, FEU, motivations for the successful development of the present course. The Board of Directors and the professors who will be in charge of organizing the entire teaching-educational process were presented.
The central words of the ceremony were pronounced by the Master of Science and assistant professor Bárbara Donet Olivera, who is the director of the CUM.
“The training of 742 students begins at the Centro Universitario municipal de Contramaestre. In the stage that we started the mission continues to be to direct and develop, promoting the policies of higher education, the continuous and integral formation of the professional, in the constant search for excellence in all processes for the contribution to the development of the prosperous and sustainable society with the relevance and impact that our time demands. We also assume other important tasks that respond to the guidelines of the Eighth Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba in accompanying the government in the strategies of territorial development, in the improvement of professionals, cadres and as the main manager of science and innovation, we have the challenge of dimensioning the university extension.
The main duty of students will be to contribute and transform, debate and debate, produce and research. They will have new challenges and goals in the future. To integrate them in the improvement, in the research, in the application of science and technology to transform the negative reality that our territory presents today.
