Electoral Drill in Venezuela: An Unprecedented and Successful Day on the Road to 6D

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro described this Sunday’s elections as an opportunity for voters to become familiar with an unprecedented and safe voting process, on the way to the December 6 elections. There was ample participation in the Electoral Drill, which began at 8:30 a.m. and finally continued until 5:00 p.m.

According to the assessment made in the evening by the President of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Indira Alfonzo, the exercise was successful and useful to optimize and strengthen the electoral platform, all the biosecurity measures stipulated in the Strategic Plan agreed by the National Assembly elections were respected, and in general, the results exceeded expectations.

Alfonzo specified that the 381 voting centers planned worked and more than 3 thousand people were in charge of the voting places, to which only the identity card and the face mask of each voter had to be taken.

This was a preparatory exercise for what will be the vote on December 6 in which Venezuelans will elect the deputies of the National Assembly (NA) and the technical elements were tested, result transmission tests were carried out to monitor their behavior and to assess their efficiency, after which the decision was announced to leave the technological solutions, voting machines, in all the states where they were deployed. “You will be able to exercise the contact with the machines on a daily basis and respecting the bio-sanitary protocols,” announced the President of the CNE to the people in the Venezuelan Radio and TV Chain.

The highest electoral authority of the country thanked the people for their behavior during the drill, highlighting the power of summoning all the political forces of the country, respecting the “principles of coexistence and civility”.

The massiveness and tranquility demonstrated is undoubtedly a sign of the interest of the people to know the new automated system that is considered among the most reliable in the world, while they become familiar with the new voting machines and the biosecurity protocols that they must comply with on voting day. International observers are already participating in the process, who have highlighted the premiere of the technology in a country that has been constantly modernizing it.

The December 6 elections will be attended by 107 political forces and 14,000 candidates, distributed in 14,221 polling stations, and different international bodies have been invited. The electoral campaign will begin on November 3 and will conclude on December 3 and during that time the candidates will take to the streets to exchange with the people.

Recently, the NEC announced the approval of a special regulation -due to the health situation imposed by Covid 19- to be used during the campaign and that would be presented to national, regional and indigenous political organizations, which represent 90 percent of those legally registered before the entity.

In addition to the FANB and the Militias, according to the Attorney General of the Republic, Tareck Willian Saab, more than a thousand public officials will contribute to the fulfillment of the guarantees and the population will have at their disposal a telephone number and the so-called situational rooms in which, throughout the national territory, the population can access to inform or denounce any situation.

President Nicolás Maduro, through his account in the social network Twitter, congratulated the CNE and the Armed Forces for the development of the simulation of this October 25 in which all the biosecurity protocols were fulfilled.

For her part, Executive Vicepresident Delcy Rodríguez, assured that “this is only a rehearsal of the resounding victory that Venezuela will have on 6D” and that this way the engines are warmed up and it is demonstrated that the democratic vocation of its people “cannot be waived”.

The Minister of the Popular Power for Communication and Information of Venezuela, Jorge Rodríguez, reiterated that it will be proven, once again, that Venezuela has the most robust electoral system in the world. “And to remind them, those who wanted to bend us with cruelty and sanctions and blockades, that we are stronger than their hate”.
