China announced the imposition of tariffs on U.S. goods worth 75 billion dollars as a countermeasure to U.S. tariffs, reported Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Asian country.
The tariffs will begin to apply on September 1, the same date on which the tariffs of the U.S. power to products of the Asian giant for 300 billion dollars announced by the president, Donald Trump.
According to the Foreign Affairs communiqué, Trump’s tariffs have led to a “sustained escalation of economic and commercial frictions” between the two countries, “harming to a great extent the interests of China and other countries, seriously threatening the multilateral trade system and the principle of free trade.
In this sense, China has asserted that these measures are a “forced response” to US unilateralism and trade protectionism, and urges Washington to “cooperate” to ” find a mutually acceptable and mutually beneficial solution”.
