The youngest children of the city of Contramaestre will pay homage to the Apostle of Cuba, José Martí, on the occasion of the 168th anniversary of his birth on January 28. In spite of the epidemiological situation the territory is going through with the incidence of positive cases of Covid-19, the activities are promoted in the virtual scenario.
Juan José Torres Rosales, first secretary of the Communist Youth Union (UJC) in the municipality announced that the date is of permanent remembrance because Contramaestre treasures in the Remanganaguas Cemetery important history of the most universal of Cubans. Thus, two days of voluntary blood donations are proposed to honor the one who pointed out that Homeland is Humanity; besides a productive work in the Laguna Blanca pole to honor the traditional Marcha de las Antorchas (March of the Torches) this January 27.

For the same day, student leaders and other young people who can join in a tweeting event starting at 9 p.m. in which the tribute of the young people to the Master will be expressed.
On January 28, in conjunction with the José Martí Pioneers Organization (OPJM), families are invited to dress up their children as characters from Martí’s children’s literature and show on social networks the tribute to the man who said that children are born to be happy.
Similarly, in the schools of the territory where the educational teaching process continues, the schedule of activities planned for Martí’s day will be carried out in compliance with health protocols to avoid contagion with the new coronavirus.
