Santiago de Cuba, 16 Nov (RHC) The Department of the Universidad de Oriente dedicated to the study of the thought and work of Fidel Castro will pay tribute to him on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of his physical disappearance, with an academic and historical evocation program.
Dr. Frank J. Solar, president of this academic institution in Santiago de Cuba, emphasized the importance of these days that will take place until next 25th, date of the death of the Historic Leader of the Cuban Revolution, with the participation of students, professors and authorities of the house of high studies.
He recalled that this was one of the first departments created by the Ministry of Higher Education in the country and since October 2017, when it was established on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the teaching institution, it has sustained a work of deepening in the legacy of the Commander in Chief.
The ascent to the site of the foothills of the Great Stone, where the then young lawyer was captured after the assault on the Moncada Barracks on July 26, 1953, the vigil at the monument of the university martyrs and the III Fidel Colloquium, the force of truth and ideas, will be significant.
The meeting with young soldiers who are part of the ceremonial detachment of the patrimonial cemetery of Santa Ifigenia, in charge of the guard of honor of the historical leader of the Revolution, the National Hero José Martí and the founding fathers Carlos Manuel de Céspedes and Mariana Grajales will be of particular interest.
The campaign through the social network Twitter Por siempre Fidel (“Forever Fidel”) and a bibliographic exhibition on his life and revolutionary conceptions will also be part of the homage that each year becomes a patriotic tradition in the city that has been hosting his ashes since Sunday, December 4, 2016.
