Contramaestre is experiencing a Covid-19 new outbreak since November and it already accumulates three positive cases, situation that leads the governmental and sanitary authorities of the municipality to implement actions to achieve prevention of this pandemic.
In El Yarey, a location on the border between Granma and Santiago de Cuba provinces, the containment point of the Carretera Central is operating 24 hours a day, where a health team is working, accompanied by members of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) and they are in charge of implementing the hygiene protocols to all travelers.
Isolation and Prevention
In order to guarantee the isolation of patients who have had contact with confirmed cases of Covid-19 or people with symptoms, the Isolation Center located at the Jose Antonio Labrador Diaz Field Hospital, known as Bungo 2, is already functioning. It has a capacity for 100 people and has all the necessary resources to provide care for suspects.
After five days of isolation the first 10 patients return home with negative PCR, but before that they express their gratitude for the attention received and call on the conscience of each person to follow with discipline the measures taken to prevent future infections of the deadly virus.
Although the population is aware that they must apply a new code of life to avoid contracting the disease, negligent and undisciplined attitudes still persist, making it impossible for the health authorities in the territory to comply with their guidelines, whose only aim is to guarantee citizens the right to health and life.
