A significant support to voluntary blood donations is given by the peasants of the municipality of Contramaestre, in the southeastern area of Cuba, an activity dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) to be celebrated on May 17.

The response of the members of this sector, who number more than 3 thousand, made it possible for the municipality to surpass by 13 the amount planned for the third month of the year, which amounted to 380 donations.

Once again the Contramaestrian peasants step forward in response to the call made by the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR by its Spanish name), which shows the altruism of each man and woman of the countryside in this humane task with which they also salute the Eighth Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba that will take place from April 16 to 19.

In 2021 the municipality of Contramaestre should provide 4,560 voluntary blood donations, a figure that requires the joint work of the CDRs and Public Health with the support of the Young Communist League, the Federation of Cuban Women, the Cuban Workers’ Federation, and the peasant organization itself.
