Cuba detected 93 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the last day for a total of 3,46 people diagnosed with the disease, said the Ministry of Public Health today.
The national director of Epidemiology of this ministry, Francisco Durán, informed in the usual press conference that no deaths were registered, a figure that continues in 88 thanks to the action protocols, the medicines applied and the effort of the professionals in the intensive care units.
He specified that the day before a total of 4,267 studies were carried out, 93 were positive for the SARS-Cov-2 virus, with which 301,598 samples were tested.
Durán explained that the 93 confirmed cases are all Cuban (44 women and 49 men), of which 62 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis, and 61 contacts of patients previously diagnosed, representing 65.5 percent.
He pointed out that 10 imported cases are reported, that is, with a source of infection abroad, and significantly 10 children under 20 years of age and another 43 up to 39 years, which indicates that it is precisely the younger groups that are influencing the rise in the number of infected.
For clinical-epidemiological surveillance, 959 patients have been admitted, 20 are under surveillance and another 11,501 are being closely monitored at home by the Primary Health Care, while 496 are active patients, of whom 490 have a stable clinical course, and two are reported in critical condition and four in severe condition, explained Durán.
Of the total of 3,46 diagnosed with the disease, 2,460 have recovered and been discharged, as a result of five months of dealing with this complex epidemiological situation.
As on so many other occasions, Durán reminded the audience that the best attitude is responsible behavior in compliance with the rigorous measures of isolation, protection and epidemiological surveillance through their participation in the investigations carried out by health personnel.
