At the close of yesterday, October 8, 5,049 patients were admitted for clinical-epidemiological surveillance in hospitals and health institutions, 786 of them suspected, of which 3,843 were under surveillance and 420 confirmed.
For COVID-19, 7 thousand 208 samples were studied, resulting in 26 positive samples. 677 thousand 952 samples were taken and 5 thousand 943 were positive (0.88%). Therefore, at yesterday’s close, 26 new cases were confirmed, with an accumulated of 5 thousand 943 in the country.
Of the 26 diagnosed cases, 24 are Cuban and two are foreign, 25 are native and one is imported. Of the total number of cases (26): 17 cases were contacts of confirmed cases, eight without a precise source of infection and one with a source of infection abroad.
Of the 26 confirmed cases, 11 are male and 15 (57.7%) are female. 65.4% (17) of the positive cases were asymptomatic, accumulating 3,627 cases that represent 61% of those confirmed to date.
Of the 5 thousand 943 patients diagnosed with the disease, 420 (7.1%) remain confirmed, 418 99.5% with stable clinical evolution. It is reported 123 deaths (none of them during the day), two evacuated, 27 discharges during the day, 5 thousand 398 patients recovered (91%). One patient is reported in serious condition and one in critical condition.
