The national director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Durán, reported on Tuesday four deaths and 997 new Covid-19 cases during the last 24 hours, for a total of 51,587 diagnoses since the beginning of the disease in the country.
The specialist informed on TV that at the end of yesterday, 18,660 patients had been admitted, of which 2,833 were suspected, 11,550 were under epidemiological surveillance and 4,277 were confirmed.
Durán explained that the country had taken 17,577 samples the day before for a total of 2,428,864 samples analyzed.
The epidemiologist announced that, of the 997 patients, 465 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis, 936 have a source of infection in previously confirmed cases, 27 have a source of infection abroad (5 foreigners) and the source of infection is unknown in 34 persons. There were 970 autochthonous patients.
Of the total number of confirmed cases, 540 are male and 457 are female. In terms of age groups, 126 patients were diagnosed under 19 years of age and 655 pediatric patients were hospitalized. Between 19 and 39 years of age, 347 cases were confirmed, 340 cases between 40 and 59 years of age and 184 people over 60 years of age.
Of the 51,587 patients diagnosed with the disease since its onset, 4,277 have been confirmed, of whom 4,217 have a stable clinical evolution. A total of 328 deaths have been reported (4 on the last day) for a case fatality rate of 0.63. Two evacuees, 54 returnees and 46,926 patients have been recovered (820 discharged during the day). Twenty-five patients in critical condition and 35 patients in serious condition are reported.

Santiago de Cuba: 28 (27 confirmed case contacts and 1 imported case).
Songo La Maya: 4 (confirmed case contacts).
As of March 1, February, 190 countries have reported cases of COVID-19, 114 million 788 thousand 414 infections and 2 million 544 thousand 817 deaths for a case fatality rate of 2.21.
In the Americas region, 51 million 524,267 confirmed cases and 1 million 226,468 deaths were reported, for a case fatality rate of 2.38.
