The municipality of Contramaestre reports 3 new cases of Covid-19, while the total in Cuba is 914, according to information presented on Cuban TV by Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health.
The specialist reported on Wednesday five deaths and with 914 positive samples for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, Cuba has already accumulated 52,501 diagnoses since the beginning of the disease in the nation.
Dr. Durán reported that at the end of yesterday, 19,100 patients had been admitted, of which 3,116 were suspected, 11,498 were under epidemiological surveillance and 4,486 were confirmed.
Durán explained that the country had taken 17,580 samples the day before for a total of 2,446,444 samples analyzed.
The epidemiologist announced that, of the 914 patients, 496 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis, 869 have a source of infection in previously confirmed cases, 19 have a source of infection abroad (4 foreigners) and the source of infection is unknown in 26 persons. There were 895 autochthonous patients.
Of the total number of confirmed cases, 512 are male and 402 are female. In terms of age groups, 119 patients were diagnosed under 19 years of age and 650 pediatric patients are hospitalized and active. Between 19 and 39 years of age, 343 cases were confirmed, 323 cases between 40 and 59 years of age and 129 people over 60 years of age.
Of the 52,501 patients diagnosed with the disease since its onset, 4,486 have been confirmed, of whom 4,421 have a stable clinical evolution. A total of 333 deaths have been reported (5 on the last day) for a case fatality rate of 0.63. Two evacuees, 54 returnees and 47,626 patients recovered (700 discharged on the day). Twenty-two patients are reported in critical condition and 43 patients in serious condition.
