Cuba reports 8,875 new Covid-19 cases

Cuba reports 8,875 new cases of Covid-19 at the end of yesterday, July 30, after the study of 50,758 samples, so the country accumulates a total of 6,516,361,361 samples taken and 384,596 positive, according to Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health.

The specialist informed that 90,472 patients have been admitted, 43,854 are suspected, 3,804 are under surveillance and 42,814 are confirmed active.

Of the total number of cases (8,875): 8,746 were contacts of confirmed cases; 65 with source of infection abroad; 64 with no source of infection specified. Of the 8,875 diagnosed cases, 4,652 were females and 4,223 were males.

Of the 8,875 positive cases, 7.7% (679) were asymptomatic, making a total of 106,388 cases, representing 27.7% of those confirmed to date.

The 8,736 diagnosed cases belong to the following age groups: under 20 years of age: 1,663; 20 to 39 years of age: 2,609; 40 to 59 years of age: 2,861; and over 60: 1,742 cases.

Of the 384,596 patients diagnosed with the disease, 42,814 remain hospitalized, of whom 42,474 have a stable clinical course. There are 2,758 deaths (65 during the day), a lethality rate of 0.72% vs. 2.13% in the world and 2.60% in the Americas; two evacuated, 54 returned to their countries, 9,157 discharged during the day, and 338,968 patients have recovered. There are 340 confirmed patients being treated in intensive care, including 159 critical and 181 serious patients.

As of July 30, 190 countries and 32 territories have reported cases of COVID-19, 197 million 833 thousand 145 confirmed cases (+ 694 thousand 415) with 14 million 819 thousand 254 active cases and 4 million 220 thousand 364 deaths (+ 10 thousand 208) for a case fatality rate of 2.13% (-0.01).

In the Americas, 77 million 843 thousand 319 confirmed cases (+ 263 thousand 435) were reported, 39.35% of the total number of cases reported in the world, with 7 million 392 thousand 989 active cases and 2 million 25 thousand 594 deaths (+ 4 thousand 179) for a case fatality rate of 2.60% (-0.01).
