Contramaestre municipality, with a little more than 105 thousand inhabitants, reported two new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, while the whole of Cuba 875 confirmed, according to the information given by Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health.
The specialist reported this Friday 875 new cases of Covid-19 in Cuba and two deaths up to yesterday’s closing.
Durán explained on TV that 4,336 people have been admitted to the country’s hospitals and the total number of deaths amounted to 314, while the number of infected people in Cuba since March last year is 48,441.
At the end of yesterday, February 25, 19,169 patients were admitted for clinical epidemiological surveillance, 2,971 were suspected, 11,862 were under surveillance and 4,336 were confirmed active.
For COVID-19, 18,568 samples were studied, resulting in 875 positive samples. The country accumulates 2,356,127 samples taken and 48,441 were positive.
Of the total number of cases (875): 830 were contacts of confirmed cases; 21 with source of infection abroad; on day 24 with no source of infection specified. Of the 875 diagnosed cases, 446 were female and 429 were male.
Of the 875 positive cases, 49.0% (429) were asymptomatic, making a total of 26,189 cases, representing 54.06% of those confirmed to date.
The 875 diagnosed cases belong to the following age groups: under 20 years of age: 99; 20 to 39 years of age: 310; 40 to 59 years of age: 314 and over 60: 152 cases.

Of the 48,441 patients diagnosed with the disease, 4,336 remain hospitalized, 4,283 of them with stable clinical evolution. There are 314 deaths (two during the day), two evacuated, 54 returned to their countries, 926 discharged during the day, and 43,735 patients have recovered (90.3%). There are 53 confirmed, 26 critical and 27 severe patients being treated in intensive care.
As of February 25, 190 countries and 29 territories have reported cases of COVID-19, with 113,223,300 confirmed cases (+ 389,215), 21,900,372 active cases and 2,511,247 deaths (+ 10,915) for a case fatality rate of 2.21 (=).
In the Americas region, 50 million 863,707 confirmed cases (+ 181,468) were reported, 44.92% of the total number of cases reported in the world, with 10 million 790,005 active cases and 1 million 208,528 deaths (+ 6,373) for a case fatality rate of 2.37 (=).
