Cuba reports 8,517 new Covid-19 cases

Cuba reports 8,517 new Covid-19 cases at the end of yesterday, September 17, after the study of 58,915 samples for surveillance during the day, so the country accumulates 8,948,334 samples taken and 792,933 positive, according to the Ministry of Public Health.

The report states that 93,739 patients have been admitted, 51,348 are suspected, 3,312 are under surveillance and 39,079 are confirmed active.

For Covid-19, a total of 58,915 samples were taken for surveillance during the day, resulting in 8,517 positive results. The country accumulates 8 million 948 thousand 334 samples taken and 792 thousand 933 positive.

Of the total number of cases (8517): 8485 were contacts of confirmed cases; 16 with source of infection abroad; 16 with no source of infection specified. Of the 8517 diagnosed cases, 4495 were female and 4022 were male.

Of the 8517 positive cases, 4.7% (399) were asymptomatic, making a total of 123,961 cases, representing 15.6% of those confirmed to date.

The 8517 diagnosed cases belong to the following age groups: under 20 years of age (1,920); 20 to 39 years of age (2,027), 40 to 59 years of age (2,619), 60 and over (1,951).

Of the 792,933 patients diagnosed with the disease, 39,079 remain hospitalized, of whom 38,614 have a stable clinical evolution, 6,733 have died (57 during the day), with a mortality rate of 0.84% vs. 2.06% in the world and 2.47% in the Americas; 2 evacuated, 55 returned to their countries, 8,456 discharged during the day, 747,064 patients have recovered (94.2%). A total of 465 patients are being treated in intensive care, 145 of them critical and 320 serious.
