Cuba reports 8,342 new Covid-19 cases

Cuba reports 8,342 new cases of Covid-19 at the end of yesterday, September 12, after the study of 53,586 samples. Thus, the country accumulates 8,678,523 samples taken and 753,544 positive, according to the Ministry of Public Health.

According to the information, 101,173 patients have been admitted, 57,410 are suspected, 4,153 are under surveillance and 39,610 are confirmed active.

Of the total number of cases (8342): 8315 were contacts of confirmed cases; 5 with source of infection abroad; 22 with no source of infection specified. Of the 8342 diagnosed cases, 4432 were female and 3910 were male.

A total of 4.5% (379) of the 8342 positive cases were asymptomatic, making a total of 122,165 cases, representing 16.2% of those confirmed to date.

The 8342 diagnosed cases belong to the following age groups: under 20 years of age (2030); 20 to 39 years of age (2059), 40 to 59 years of age (2425), 60 and over (1828).

Mella: 16 (contacts of confirmed cases).
Palma Soriano: 33 (23 confirmed case contacts and 10 without source of infection).
San Luis: 18 (confirmed case contacts).
Santiago de Cuba: 119 (117 confirmed case contacts and 2 without source of infection).
Songo La Maya: 16 (confirmed case contacts).

Of the 753,544 patients diagnosed with the disease, 39,610 remain hospitalized, of whom 39,162 have a stable clinical course. There are 6,373 deaths (74 during the day), a case fatality rate of 0.85% vs. 2.06% in the world and 2.48% in the Americas; two evacuated, 55 returned to their countries, 7,906 discharged during the day, and 707,504 patients recovered (93.9%). There are 448 confirmed patients in intensive care, 135 of whom are critical and 313 serious.
