Cuba reports 8,184 new Covid-19 cases

Cuba reports 8,184 new cases of Covid-19 at the end of yesterday, July 25, after the study of 53,310 samples, so the country accumulates 6,262,167 samples taken and 341,152 positive (5.4%), according to Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health.

The specialist informed that 60,395 patients have been admitted, 14,661 are suspected, 3,396 are under surveillance and 42,338 are confirmed active.

Of the total number of cases (8,184): 8,116 were contacts of confirmed cases; 22 with source of infection abroad; 46 with no source of infection specified.

Of the 8,184 diagnosed cases, 4,274 were female and 3,910 were male.

Of the 8,184 positive cases, 5.1% (415) were asymptomatic, making a total of 103,918 cases, representing 30.5% of those confirmed to date.

The 8,184 diagnosed cases belonged to the following age groups: under 20 years of age (1,666), 20 to 39 years of age (2,301), 40 to 59 years of age (2,722) and over 60 years of age (1,495).

Contramaestre: 23 (22 contacts of confirmed cases and 1 without source of infection).
Guamá: 22 (confirmed case contacts).
Second Front: 31 (30 contacts of confirmed cases and 1 without source of infection).
Third Front: 2 (contacts of confirmed cases).
Mella: 17 (contacts of confirmed cases).
Palma Soriano: 5 (3 confirmed case contacts and 2 without source of infection).
San Luis: 29 (28 confirmed case contacts and 1 without source of infection).
Santiago de Cuba: 321 (315 confirmed case contacts, 2 imported and 4 with no source of infection identified).
Songo la Maya: 27 (confirmed case contacts).

Of the 341,152 patients diagnosed with the disease, 42,338 remain hospitalized, of whom 41,949 are clinically stable. There were 2,417 deaths (66 during the day), a case fatality rate of 0.70% vs. 2.14% in the world and 2.61% in the Americas; two evacuated, 54 returned to their countries, 7,927 patients were discharged during the day, and 296,341 patients have recovered. There are 389 confirmed patients in intensive care, of which 164 are critical and 225 serious.

During the day, 66 patients died. We deeply regret what happened and convey our condolences to their families and friends.

As of July 25, 190 countries and 32 territories have reported cases of COVID-19, with 194 million 796 thousand 457 confirmed cases (+ 551 thousand 985), 13 million 875 thousand 275 active cases and 4 million 174 thousand 644 deaths (+ 10 thousand 689) for a case fatality rate of 2.14% (=).
