Cuba reports 7,745 new Covid-19 cases

Cuba reports 7,745 new cases of Covid-19 at the end of yesterday, July 21, after the study of 50,844 samples, so the country accumulates a total of 6,048,002 samples taken and 308,599 positive, according to Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health.

The specialist informed that 59,568 patients have been admitted, 20,007 are suspected, 3,912 are under surveillance and 35,649 are confirmed active.

For Covid-19, 50,844 samples were studied, resulting in 7,745 positive samples. The country accumulates 6,048,002 samples taken and 308,599 were positive.

Of the total number of cases (7,745): 7,666 were contacts of confirmed cases; 37 with source of infection abroad; 42 with no source of infection specified. Of the 7,745 diagnosed cases, 3,971 were female and 3,774 were male.

Of the 7,745 positive cases, 8.6% (670) were asymptomatic, for a total of 101,990 cases, representing 33.0% of those confirmed to date.

The 7,745 diagnosed cases belong to the following age groups: under 20 years of age (1,351); 20 to 39 years of age (2,212), 40 to 59 years of age (2,610) and over 60 years of age (1,572).

Guamá: 59 (contacts of confirmed cases).
Segundo Frente: 26 (confirmed case contacts).
Mella: 24 (confirmed case contacts).
Palma Soriano: 12 (11 confirmed case contacts and 1 without source of infection).
San Luis: 72 (71 confirmed case contacts and 1 without source of infection).
Santiago de Cuba: 304 (301 confirmed case contacts and 3 with no source of infection identified).
Songo La Maya: 24 (22 confirmed case contacts and 2 without source of infection).
Tercer Frente: 3 (confirmed case contacts).

Of the 308,599 patients diagnosed with the disease, 35,649 remain hospitalized, of whom 35,327 have a stable clinical course. There are 2,137 deaths (65 during the day); two evacuated, 54 returned to their countries, 8,883 discharged during the day, 270,757 patients have recovered (87.7%). A total of 322 confirmed patients are being treated in intensive care, including 130 critically ill and 192 seriously ill patients.

As of July 21, 190 countries and 32 territories have reported cases of COVID-19, with 192 million 532 thousand 315 confirmed cases (+ 449 thousand 469), 13 million 281 thousand 331 active cases and 4 million 137 thousand 587 deaths (+ 19 thousand 997) for a case fatality rate of 2.15% (0.01).

In the Americas, 76 million 283 thousand 174 confirmed cases (+ 148 thousand 494) were reported, 39.62% of the total number of cases reported in the world, with 7 million 82 thousand 419 active cases and 1 million 996 thousand 715 deaths (+ 11 thousand 93) for a case fatality rate of 2.62% (0.01).
