Cuba reports 4,097 new Covid-19 cases

Cuba reports 4,097 new cases of Covid-19 at the end of yesterday, October 2, after the study of a total of 42,532 samples for surveillance during the day. Thus, the country accumulates 9 million 691,339 samples taken and 891,447 positive, according to information from the Ministry of Public Health.

The report shows that 56,880 patients have been admitted, 30,056 are suspected, 2,992 are under surveillance and 23,832 are confirmed active.

Of the total number of cases (4,097): 4,079 were contacts of confirmed cases; 10 with source of infection abroad; 8 with no source of infection specified. Of the 4,097 diagnosed cases, 2,146 were female and 1,951 were male.

Of the 4,097 positive cases, 6.0% (247) were asymptomatic, making a total of 126,932 cases, representing 14.2% of those confirmed to date.

The 4,097 diagnosed cases belonged to the following age groups: under 20 years of age (808); 20 to 39 years of age (981), 40 to 59 years of age (1,296), 60 and over (1,012).

Contramaestre: 22 (contacts of confirmed cases).
Guama: 6 (confirmed case contacts).
Second Front: 10 (5 contacts of confirmed cases and 5 without source of infection).
Third Front: 26 (contacts of confirmed cases).
Mella: 4 (contacts of confirmed cases).
Palma Soriano: 15 (14 confirmed case contacts and 1 without source of infection).
San Luis: 7 (confirmed case contacts).
Santiago de Cuba: 44 (43 confirmed case contacts and 1 without source of infection).
Songo La Maya: 3 (contacts of confirmed cases).

Deaths due Covid-19

During the day, 46 patients died. Health authorities deeply regret what happened and convey condolences to their families and friends.

Of the 891,447 patients diagnosed with the disease, 23,832 remain hospitalized, 23,474 of them with stable clinical evolution. There were 7,580 deaths (46 during the day), a case fatality rate of 0.85% vs. 2.04% in the world and 2.45% in the Americas; two evacuated, 55 returned to their countries, 6,007 discharged during the day, and 859,978 patients recovered (96.4%). There are 358 confirmed patients in intensive care, of whom 104 are critical and 254 severe.
