Cuba reports 2,354 new Covid-19 cases

Cuba reports 2,354 new cases of Covid-19 at the end of yesterday, October 12, after the study of a total of 27,279 samples for surveillance during the day. Thus, the country accumulates 10,049,157 samples taken and 926,320 positive, according to information from the Ministry of Public Health.

The report shows that 33,953 patients have been admitted, 17,957 are suspected, 2,485 are under surveillance and 13,511 are confirmed active.

Of the total number of Covid-19 cases (2,354): 2,344 were contacts of confirmed cases; 8 with source of infection abroad; 2 with no source of infection specified. Of the 2,354 diagnosed cases, 1,211 were female and 1,143 were male.

Of the 2354 positive cases, 7.6% (178) were asymptomatic, making a total of 128,776, representing 13.9% of those confirmed to date.

The 2,354 diagnosed cases belong to the following age groups: under 20 years of age (500), 20 to 39 years of age (573), 40 to 59 years of age (693) and over 60 (588).

Of the 926,320 patients diagnosed with the disease, 13,511 remain hospitalized, of whom 13,196 have a stable clinical course. There are 7,956 deaths (28 during the day), a case fatality rate of 0.86% vs. 2.04% in the world and 2.45% in the Americas; 2 evacuated, 55 returned to their countries, 4,099 discharged during the day, 904,796 patients have recovered (97.7%). There are 315 confirmed patients in intensive care, out of 89 critical and 226 severe patients.
