Cuba reports 1 844 new Covid-19 cases

Cuba reports 1844 new cases of Covid-19 at the end of yesterday, October 17, after the study of a total of 27,329 samples for surveillance during the day, so the country accumulates 10 million 200,000 1 samples taken and 936,809 positive, according to the Ministry of Public Health.

The report shows that 24,352 patients have been admitted, 14,375 are suspected, 1,716 are under surveillance and 8,261 are confirmed active.

Of the total number of cases (1,844): 1,843 were contacts of confirmed cases; 1 with source of infection abroad; 0 with no source of infection specified. Of the 1,844 diagnosed cases, 987 were female and 857 were male.

Of the 1,844 positive cases, 10.5% (194) were asymptomatic, making a total of 129,488, representing 13.8% of those confirmed to date.

The 1,844 diagnosed cases belong to the following age groups: under 20 years of age (377), 20 to 39 years of age (402), 40 to 59 years of age (553) and over 60 years of age (512).

Of the 936,809 patients diagnosed with the disease, 8,261 remain hospitalized, of whom 8,20 have a stable clinical course. There are 8,79 deaths (21 on the day), a lethality rate of 0.86% vs. 2.04% in the world and 2.45% in the Americas; 2 evacuated, 55 returned to their countries, 2,245 discharged on the day, 920,412 patients have recovered (98.2%). There are 241 confirmed patients in intensive care, 85 of whom are critical and 156 severe.
