Cuba reports 1,537 new Covid-19 cases

Cuba reports 1,537 new cases of Covid-19 at the end of yesterday, June 14, after the study of 19,862 samples, so the country accumulates 4,657,880 samples taken and 160,594 confirmed, according to Dr. Francisco Durán, national epidemiology director of the Ministry of Public Health.

The specialist informed in the usual presentation on Cuban TV that 30,834 patients have been admitted, 5,718 are suspected, 17,698 are under surveillance and 7,418 are confirmed active.

Of the total number of cases (1,537): 1,432 were contacts of confirmed cases; 48 with source of infection abroad; 57 with no source of infection specified. Of the 1,537 diagnosed cases, 798 were female and 739 were male.

Of the 1537 positive cases, 35.3% (543) were asymptomatic, making a total of 77,600, representing 48.3% of those confirmed to date.

The 1,537 diagnosed cases belong to the following age groups: under 20 years of age (263), 20 to 39 years of age (493), 40 to 59 years of age (506) and over 60 years of age (275).

Contramaestre: 9 (contacts of confirmed cases).
Guamá: 4 (contacts of confirmed cases).
II Frente: 23 (confirmed case contacts).
Mella: 21 (confirmed case contacts).
Palma Soriano: 27 (18 confirmed case contacts and 9 without source of infection).
San Luis: 11 (10 confirmed case contacts and 1 without source of infection).
Santiago de Cuba: 107 (confirmed case contacts).
Songo La Maya: 9 (confirmed case contacts).
Tercer Frente: 4 (3 confirmed case contacts and 1 without source of infection).

Of the 160,594 patients diagnosed with the disease, 7,418 remain hospitalized, of whom 7,257 are clinically stable. There were 1,106 deaths (8 during the day), 2 evacuated, 54 returned to their countries, 1,159 discharged during the day, and 152,014 patients recovered (94.7%). A total of 161 confirmed patients, 62 critical and 99 severe, are being treated in intensive care units.

As of June 14, 190 countries and 30 territories have reported cases of COVID-19, with 176 million 902 thousand 38 confirmed cases (+ 293 thousand 542), 12 million 53 thousand 955 active cases and 3 million 822 thousand 518 deaths (+ 5 thousand 867) for a case fatality rate of 2.16 (=).

In the Americas region, 70 million 785 thousand 499 confirmed cases (+ 108 thousand 168) were reported, 40.01% of the total number of cases reported in the world, with 7 million 822 thousand 798 active cases and 1 million 851 thousand 613 deaths (+ 2 thousand 839) for a case fatality rate of 2.62 (=).
