Cuba reports 1,372 new Covid-19 cases

Cuba reports 1,372 new cases of Covid-19 (new record) at the end of yesterday, June 11, after the study of 20,730 samples, bringing the country’s total to 4,596,325, and 156,238 positive, according to Dr. Frnacisco Durán, director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health.

The specialist informed that 28,994 patients have been admitted, 5,197 are suspected, 17,422 are under surveillance and 6,375 are confirmed active.

Of the total number of cases (1372): 1258 were contacts of confirmed cases; 31 with source of infection abroad; 83 with no source of infection specified. Of the 1372 diagnosed cases, 718 were female and 654 were male.

Of the 1,372 positive cases, 42.0% (577) were asymptomatic, making a total of 75,818, representing 48.5% of those confirmed to date.

The 1372 diagnosed cases belong to the following age groups: under 20 years of age (208), 20 to 39 years of age (420), 40 to 59 years of age (443) and over 60 (301).

Distribution in the province of Santiago de Cuba: 184 Covid-19 cases.

Contramaestre: 28 (27 confirmed case contacts and 1 without source of infection).
Guamá: 5 (contacts of confirmed cases).
Segundo Frente: 7 (confirmed case contacts).
Mella: 1 (no source of infection identified).
Palma Soriano: 5 (4 confirmed case contacts and 1 without source of infection).
San Luis: 22 (21 contacts of confirmed cases and 1 with no source of infection specified).
Santiago de Cuba: 104 (97 contacts of confirmed cases and 7 with no source of infection specified).
Songo La Maya: 11 (8 confirmed case contacts and 3 without source of infection).
Tercer Frente: 1 (confirmed case contact).

Of the 156,238 patients diagnosed with the disease, 6,375 remain hospitalized, 6,230 of them with stable clinical evolution. There are 1,075 deaths (10 during the day), two evacuated, 54 returned to their countries, 1,179 discharged during the day, and 148,732 patients have recovered (95.2%). There are 145 confirmed patients in intensive care, of which 47 are critical and 98 are serious.

As of June 11, 190 countries and 30 territories have reported cases of COVID-19, with 175 million 831,278 confirmed cases (+ 437,480), 12 million 302,285 active cases and 3 million 795,402 deaths (+ 12,327) for a case fatality rate of 2.16 (=).

In the Americas region, 70 million 304 thousand 26 confirmed cases (+ 197 thousand 679) were reported, 39.98% of the total number of cases reported in the world, with 7 million 839 thousand 761 active cases and 1 million 839 thousand 144 deaths (+ 5 thousand 390) for a case fatality rate of 2.62 (=).
