Cuba reports 1,277 new Covid-19 cases

At the close of this Thursday, Cuba reported 1 277 new cases of Covid-19, for an accumulated 121 838 since March 2020, and seven deaths.

Currently, there are 6 453 active cases in the country, informed Dr. Francisco Durán García, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap), in his usual televised appearance.

“Another day, unfortunately, with very high transmission indicators throughout the country, with particularities by territories, but it can be said that practically all provinces show transmission,” said Dr. Durán at the beginning of his appearance.

Cuba dawned this Friday with 25 215 patients admitted: 3 946 suspected, 14 816 under surveillance and 6 453 confirmed cases, 219 more than the previous day.

On Thursday, 23 137 samples were processed in the country’s molecular biology laboratories, of which 1 277 were positive (5.52%).

Since March 2020, 3 946 550 samples have been processed, with 121 838 positive (3.09% positivity).

Distribution in the province of Santiago de Cuba: 88 Covid-19 cases.

Palma Soriano: 14 (9 contacts of confirmed cases, 1 imported case and 4 without source of infection)

Santiago de Cuba: 53 (51 contacts of confirmed cases and 2 imported)
Songo La Maya: 5 (3 contacts of confirmed cases and 2 with no source of infection specified)

Of the 121,838 patients diagnosed with the disease, 6,453 remain hospitalized, of whom 6,310 are clinically stable. There were 785 deaths (7 during the day), 2 evacuated, 54 returned to their countries, 1,051 discharged during the day, and 114,544 patients recovered (94.01%). A total of 143 confirmed patients, 46 critical and 97 serious, are being treated in intensive care units.
