Cuba reported 1 158 Covid-19 cases

Cuba reported 1 158 Covid-19 cases at the end of yesterday, June 9, after the study of 23 608 samples, so the country accumulates 4 million 552 905 samples taken and 153 578 positive, according to Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health.

The specialist informed that 26,988 patients have been admitted, 4,842 are suspected, 16,099 are under surveillance and 6,047 are confirmed active.

Of the total number of cases (1,158): 1057 were contacts of confirmed cases; 43 with source of infection abroad; 58 with no source of infection specified. Of the 1,158 diagnosed cases, 547 were female and 611 were male.

Of the 1,158 positive cases, 43.8% (507) were asymptomatic, making a total of 74,589, representing 48.6% of those confirmed to date.

The 1,158 diagnosed cases belonged to the following age groups: under 20 years of age (166), 20 to 39 years of age (359), 40 to 59 years of age (410) and over 60 (223).

Distribution in the province of Santiago de Cuba: 147 Covid-19 cases

Contramaestre: 20 (18 confirmed case contacts and 2 without source of infection).
Guamá: 1 (confirmed case contact).
II Frente: 5 (4 confirmed case contacts and 1 imported).
Mella: 11 (9 confirmed case contacts and 2 without source of infection).
Palma Soriano: 14 (8 contacts of confirmed cases and 6 without source of infection).
San Luis: 4 (3 contacts of confirmed cases and 1 with no source of infection specified).
Santiago de Cuba: 86 (66 confirmed case contacts, 6 imported and 14 with no source of infection identified).
Songo La Maya: 3 (2 confirmed case contacts and 1 imported).
Tercer Frente: 3 (contacts of confirmed cases).

Of the 153,578 patients diagnosed with the disease, 6,047 remain hospitalized, of whom 5,909 are clinically stable. There were 1,057 deaths (12 during the day), two evacuated, 54 returned to their countries, 1,081 discharged during the day, and 146,418 patients recovered (95.3%). There are 138 confirmed patients in intensive care, 55 of whom are critical and 83 serious.

As of June 9, 190 countries and 30 territories have reported cases of COVID-19, with 174,966,347 confirmed cases (+385,882), 12,443,994 active cases and 3,771,610 deaths (+14,791) for a case fatality rate of 2.16 (+0.01).

In the Americas region, 69 million 905 thousand 59 confirmed cases (+ 152 thousand 736) were reported, 39.95% of the total number of cases reported in the world, with 7 million 847 thousand 171 active cases and 1 million 828 thousand 455 deaths (+ 5 thousand 511) for a case fatality rate of 2.62 (+ 0.01).
