Cuba confirmed at the end of Wednesday 1,060 new cases of Covid-19 and seven deaths, informed Dr. Francisco Durán García, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap), during a press conference.
A total of 21,253 patients have been admitted, including 3,323 suspected cases, 12,382 under surveillance and 5,448 confirmed cases.
Yesterday, 22 818 samples were processed in the country’s molecular biology laboratories, resulting in the confirmation of 1 060 Covid-19 infections, 50 more than the previous day.
A total of 3 764 614 samples were taken for diagnosis of SARS-Cov-2 and 112 714 persons were diagnosed with the disease (3%).
Of the new cases, 1,000 (94.3%) are contacts of already confirmed cases and 106,660 have been infected with this source of infection and in 25 cases the source of infection is specified.
In terms of gender, 511 are female and 549 are male. Of the cases, 1,025 are autochthonous and 35 are imported.
Of the new patients, 42.7% were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis. For the entire epidemic, this figure represents 49.7%.
Yesterday, 199 young people under 20 years of age were diagnosed (157 are in pediatric ages, 14 under one year and nine patients under six months) and 14 479 patients in pediatric ages are accumulated. There are 862 active and 94% have been recovered.
While 338 people were diagnosed between the ages of 20-39 years, 348 of 40-59 years and 197 patients in the group of 60 years and older.
