The municipality of Contramaestre reported 3 new cases of Covid-19, according to the report issued by the National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba, Dr. Francisco Durán.
In the usual appearance on Cuban television, the specialist reported on Monday two deaths and 811 positive samples for Covid-19 in Cuba during the last 24 hours, for an accumulated 50,590 diagnoses since the beginning of the disease in the nation.
Durán reported that at the end of yesterday, 19,327 patients had been admitted, of which 3,481 were suspected, 11,732 were under epidemiological surveillance and 4,104 were confirmed.
Durán explained that the country had taken 19,155 samples the day before for a total of 2,411,287 samples analyzed.
The epidemiologist announced that, of the 811 patients, 420 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis, 774 have a source of infection in previously confirmed cases, 7 have a source of infection abroad (6 foreigners) and the source of infection is unknown in 30 persons. There were 804 autochthonous patients.
Of the 50,590 patients diagnosed with the disease since its onset, 4,104 have been confirmed, of whom 4,042 have a stable clinical course. A total of 324 deaths have been reported (2 on the last day) for a case fatality rate of 0.65. Two evacuees, 54 returnees and 46,106 patients recovered (864 discharged on the day). Twenty-three patients are reported in critical condition and 39 patients in serious condition.
As of February 27, 190 countries have reported cases of COVID-19, with 114,550,054 infections and 2,540,236 deaths, for a case fatality rate of 2.21.
