Mailén Valdés Almaguer, the only survivor of the plane crash of May 18, 2018 in Havana, is recovering at the International Center for Neurological Restoration, (Ciren), was announced today.
Cuban Vice President Roberto Morales, who together with Public Health Minister José Ángel Portal, visited the hospital and scientific institution, signed up on his Twitter account.
Morales wrote that there they had ‘the opportunity to greet and appreciate the recovery of Mailen Diaz Almaguer, which pleased us deeply.
The 20-year-old girl is recovering at the aforementioned health center after receiving treatment and rehabilitation at the Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital by a multidisciplinary group of specialists, with the collaboration of other institutions, and previously at the General Calixto García University Hospital.
On May 18, 2018, a plane belonging to the Mexican company Global Air, contracted by Cubana de Aviación, crashed in the vicinity of the José Martí International Airport in Havana, on its way to the eastern province of Holguín, killing 112 people.
