Promoting collaboration projects with Biocubafarma in Italy

The prestigious Cuban researcher, PhD Agustin Lage met on May 23, in Rome, with representatives of the business and scientific sectors of Italy to discuss the development of joint projects with the business group Biocubafarma.

The advisor to the president of this entity of the biopharmaceutical sector, explained the characteristics and objectives of the institution created in 2012 with the purpose of producing and marketing medicines and high technology services for the health of the Cuban people, with the aspiration of being the main exporter of goods on the Island.

At the meeting held at the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy in Italy, Lage reported that with 34 companies, 21,000 workers, 182 patents and more than 200 projects, Biocubafarma currently exports to 49 countries, it participates in technology transfer businesses and contributes more than 800 products to the Cuban health system.
The scientist told Prensa Latina about the results of his two-week tour of several Italian cities, noting that this day was the twenty-fifth meeting of his tour.

“The interesting thing about this mission is that we have been working with the three types of organizations related to biotechnology: scientific and academic institutions, business and financial,” he said.

During the meeting, in which the Cuban ambassador, José Carlos Rodríguez, participated, Lage held a lively dialogue with the participants and updated himself on the status of the contacts and negotiations developed by several of them with Biocubafarma companies.
