Cuba devotes significant efforts and resources to fighting drug trafficking and consumption, whose global production is increasing and, with it, drug addiction mortality.
Cuba’s Coast Guard services are alert to this phenomenon, as drug shipments reach the Cuban coasts, and attempts to introduce narcotics are also made through ports and airports.
At the air border, 49 operations attempting to introduce drugs were neutralized last year, most of them for the purpose of marketing them in the country; 90 people were arrested at airports.
Recently, Chancellor Bruno Rodriguez underlined the efforts and results in the prevention and fight against drug trafficking. The Cuban State has proven its political will for international cooperation in this area, and for this purpose it has signed agreements with more than thirty countries.
