In a crusade to stop a resurgence of Covid-19 in Cuba, the Ministry of Public Health today reported 60 new cases, while for the first time more than eight thousand PCR diagnostic tests were performed.
In a press conference to update on this situation, the National Director of Epidemiology, Francisco Durán explained that in the last hours, eight thousand 128 persons were studied for their confirmation and there is a total of 477 thousand 559 tests carried out since the detection of the first cases last March 11.
The specialist also informed that the 60 detected are Cuban citizens, 44 of them are contacts of confirmed cases and 29 of them were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis.
When detailing the affected territories, he explained that the central province of Ciego de Avila is the one that reports more cases with 28, followed by Havana with 21, to give continuity to the list with Artemisa (3), Matanzas, Granma and Santiago de Cuba with two each one and Holguín with only one positive patient in the last hours.
During his report, Durán also announced that two people died from the disease, bringing the death toll to 108 and the lethality in Cuba is 2.32 percent.
Meanwhile, 34 patients managed to overcome the disease and were discharged from hospital, for a total of 3,878 recovered.
To date, 1,585 patients have been admitted to hospitals for clinical-epidemiological surveillance: 61 under surveillance, 859 suspected and 665 confirmed active, while 644 of them have stable clinical evolution.
