The Cuban Ministry of Public Health reported today that in the last 24 hours 44 new patients were diagnosed with Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 3,408.
In the usual press conference to update these data, Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology, detailed that 524 patients remain in hospitals with the disease (the so-called active ones), of which 516 have stable clinical evolution, five are in serious condition and three are critical.
This number of active cases is high, but lower than in recent days,” said the specialist.
During the last day there were no deaths from SARS-CoV-2 virus, which caused Covid-19, so the total number of deaths remains at 88 for the second consecutive week.
Of the newly diagnosed patients, 21 are women and 23 men, all Cuban, 40 are contacts from a previously diagnosed case, and in four the source of infection is being investigated, said Durán.
The expert added that 22 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis.
The day before, 4,294 diagnostic tests were studied throughout the country to detect the presence of the virus, bringing the total number of samples taken since the first cases were known in this country on Mar. 11 to 336,333.
Health authorities reiterate that the risk is still extremely high, which is why they are insisting on compliance with control and protection measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
