Havana, Oct 21 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban province of Pinar del Río returned today to the phase of limited local transmission of Covid-19, due to the increase of positive cases, according to the sources of the territorial direction of Public Health.
The decision is in force since this Wednesday afternoon and it is due to the increase of the incidence rate of the disease, which is 21.9 per 100 thousand inhabitants, according to the Cuban News Agency.
Pinar del Río was going through the so-called new normality, when a local transmission event complicated the epidemiological situation of the territory.
The first secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in the province, Julio César Rodríguez, when referring to the actions arranged in this stage, pointed out that they will prioritize the active researches in the communities, to look for the possible infected and to cut the transmission chains.
More than 480 measures will begin to be implemented as of Thursday, October 22nd, among which are the suspension and regulation of transportation, the prohibition of the entry and exit of the province without authorization, and the increase of distance work.
In addition, the cessation of teaching activities and the postponement of the start of the 2020-2021 school year, as well as the return to their homes of boarding students and those from other provinces.
Gastronomic services will only work by order (to go), both in the state and private sectors.
Since October 6, Pinar del Río reports 128 positive cases of Covid-19, mainly in the municipalities of Guane, Consolación del Sur and the provincial capital city.
Cuba confirmed in the day 63 carriers of SARS-CoV-2, which causes the disease, from which 41 belong to that province.
