Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel received the medical personnel of the Henry Reeve Brigade, who rendered solidarity service in Andorra during that European nation’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, and to whom he conveyed the gratitude of the government and people in general for having raised the values of Cuban medicine.
“As we have become accustomed to in recent days, we have the pleasure and satisfaction of receiving another group of our valuable health workers who have integrated into the Henry Reeve Brigade the various medical missions that have been cooperating internationally, in solidarity, in the fight against the pandemic in other countries,” the President said.
The arrival of these specialists in Cuban medicine is in addition to the arrival in the country of the brigade that was in Lombardy and other members of the Henry Reeve Brigade who honored their mission in countries such as Nicaragua, and Antigua and Barbuda.
Diaz-Canel referred to the recognition letter sent by the Head of Government of the Principality of Andorra, Mr. Xavier Espot Zamora, in which he acknowledged that in response to the request for bilateral cooperation that they had made to the Cuban Government on 22 March, immediately, a few weeks later, they welcomed in Andorra and with pride the 39 members of the Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade. And at the end of the letter, they expressed the greatest gratitude and appreciation for the effort made by the Cuban medical personnel.
The health authorities of that European nation recognize that with the presence of the Caribbean doctors the epidemiological indicators in Andorra improved, achieving that at the end of the mission there were no new cases of COVID-19, nor patients admitted to intensive care, and a progressive decrease in active cases and an increase in hospital discharges.
The empire stands speechless in its efforts to discredit Cuba’s undeniable contribution to the fight against COVID-19 in the world. There are now more than 40 countries where Cuban specialists are providing solidarity services to save human lives in the face of the new pandemic.
The Cuban president expressed with certainty that the results and the example of the members of the Henry Reeve Brigade are crushing the United States’ attempts to undermine the altruism of the island’s doctors and to destroy the Cuban Revolution.
Diaz-Canel proposed to these medical personnel to meet after the quarantine to exchange about their experiences and those questions that they can contribute for the improvement of our Program of Confrontation to the COVID-19.
The Cuban doctors contribute with their results to the international struggle for the Henry Reeve Brigade to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
